Each round has a separate valid-ballot denominator; percentages and vote counts are never added across rounds. Candidate party/support labels describe the election-era source, not an ideological assessment or proof of formal membership. The President was chosen by the legislature/National Assembly. This is not a popular presidential election. Only the specified decisive ballot is tabulated; earlier assembly ballots are not combined. The table denominator is 537 valid assembly ballot outcomes, including 34 abstentions; seven invalid ballots are excluded. Jaruzelski received 270 affirmative votes, 233 voted against and 34 abstained. Of 559 eligible members, 544 cast ballots.
