Party seats follow the cited upper-chamber record. Votes, vote shares and elector participation are blank because this is an indirect provincial-legislature allocation, not a national popular ballot. Only permanent delegates are counted in this table and its seat comparisons. The date follows the general-election cycle used by the IPU historical archive, rather than implying a simultaneous public vote for upper-chamber delegates. The permanent-party distribution follows the IPU historical record (ANC 32, IFP 3, ACDP 2); South Africa Survey 2002/03 gives a different within-term composition (ANC 34, IFP 2, ACDP 1). No counts from the two snapshots are combined.
