The franchise, electoral system and party organisations changed over time. Historical votes are not comparable to universal-suffrage elections. Unknown figures remain unreported. Colours are a display palette. Early elections could combine direct voting and indirect selection through electors; the figures retain the source’s classification. The Swedish source classifies historical tariff alignments and subsequent parliamentary groups. These differ from classifications used in some international handbooks. The autumn seat totals reflect the settlement after Stockholm’s list disqualification; later party-group labels are retrospective.
