The president is elected directly by an absolute majority of valid votes. If no candidate obtains more than half, the two leading candidates contest a separate runoff; each round has its own denominator.

Vote shares are calculated from 640,967 valid candidate votes. 646,389 ballots were cast; 5,422 ballots were outside the valid-vote denominator. Turnout is ballots cast divided by 859,925 registered voters.

Both candidates reconcile to 640,967 valid votes. Final status rests on court certification on 29 April, not the CNE web page’s retained provisional heading. CNE verification added 883 valid votes to Ramos-Horta and 499 to Guterres compared with STAE’s preliminary 397,145 / 242,440 totals. Blank: 1,643; null: 3,734; rejected: 28; abandoned: 17. Together with valid votes these reconcile to 646,389 participants. Registration changed to 859,925; shares and turnout use this round’s own denominators.
